WHAT IS VITAMIN B12?
Vitamin B12 is a water-soluble vitamin that aids in the formation of red blood cells, the maintenance of the central nervous system, and other bodily functions. When Vitamin B12 is injected, it is absorbed by the body and used to help form red blood cells as well as maintain proper cardiovascular and nervous system functions. B12 also aids in the breakdown of carbohydrates so that the body can use them as energy, facilitating weight loss.
HOW FREQUENTLY SHOULD I GET B12 SHOTS?
Most patients prefer to front-load the protocol, in order to increase their levels more quickly. For instance weekly shots in the first month or every other week for the first two months. Following that, it is recommended that you come in once a month for maintenance. Since vitamin B shots are water soluble, it is virtually impossible to take "too much" of them because you will pass any extra through urination.
WHAT CAN I EXPECT WITH THE TREATMENT?
B12 is injected directly into the bloodstream, so treatment is quick. Patients who are deficient in B12 can benefit from monthly supplemental injections.
