WHAT IS MASSETER BOTOX?

The masseter is a muscle located on the side of your face that helps you to chew and talk. It connects your cheekbone to your lower jawbone. When Botox is injected into the masseter, the procedure is called a Masseter Botox or Jaw Botox. The treatment uses botulinum toxin to block nerve signals in the masseter, preventing the muscle to move temporarily. Masseter Botox is typically used for reducing jaw tension, preventing grinding, clenching and headaches. But it is also a very popular procedure for cosmetic enhancement, like contouring a square jaw and creating a more balanced facial shape.

HOW MANY BOTOX TREATMENTS ARE NEEDED FOR JAW REDUCTION?

Each patient is different, so are their facial compositions and treatment goals. Results can vary significantly from person to person, but most patients notice great benefits with a single Botox treatment for jaw reduction. The actual number of botox units needed will also vary from patient to patient, but it usually takes around 25 units of Botox for a single session.

ARE THERE ANY SIDE EFFECTS/RISKS?

As it goes with most procedures involving Botox, there is a minimal amount of downtime associated with Jaw Reduction. Following your treatment, you may experience some mild pain or swelling, or even bruising and redness in the injection site. But all these symptoms can be treated only by using a cold compress or taking over-the-counter pain relief. Side effects are very uncommon, but can include local bruising and headaches. It is important to note that anyone who is pregnant or breastfeeding should not have jawline slimming treatments with Botox.

WHEN WILL I SEE RESULTS?

A Jaw Reduction Treatment with muscle relaxing injections can take up to 8 weeks to show its full effect. Around 6 to 8 weeks after the procedure, you will likely have a review appointment and your results will be assessed at this point. However, you should see a marked improvement in moderate to severe lines around three to ten days following the treatment. Lines will continue to improve for up to a month, and the results can last up to 4 months after that.

HOW MUCH DOES BOTOX FOR JAW REDUCTION COST?
