CAN I LOSE WEIGHT WITH PRESCRIPTION DRUGS?

Plenity is an oral capsule designed to promote fullness and increase satiety to help patients manage their weight. As the capsules disintegrate in the stomach and they release special particles, which can hydrate up to 100 times their original weight. These particles can occupy about a quarter of average stomach volume when fully hydrated. The gel particles mix with ingested foods, creating a larger volume with higher elasticity and viscosity in the stomach and small intestine, promoting satiety and fullness. And after passing through the digestive system, Plenity particles are eliminated through normal bowel movements (not absorbed).

Contrave is an FDA-approved prescription medication that combines bupropion and naltrexone. Qsymia is an FDA-approved prescription medication that combines phentermine and topiramate extended-release. Phentermine acts as an appetite suppressant, while topiramate affects appetite control centers in the brain. The combined effects of these medications can help reduce hunger and increase satiety, leading to potential weight loss. Qsymia is typically prescribed in conjunction with a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity.
HOW OFTEN IS THE TREATMENT WITH PLENITY?
Most patients take around three Plenity capsules with water, twice a day, 20 minutes before lunch and dinner. Because Plenity’s “naturally derived building blocks” form an absorbent and dissolvable hydrogel that can grow up to 100 times their size during digestion, absorbing all the water around them.

Plenity has a well proven safety profile and during clinical trials was just as well-tolerated as its placebo version. Bur, the most common side effects include fullness, bloating, flatulence, and/or abdominal pain.
