FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
WHAT IS KYBELLA FOR DOUBLE CHIN REDUCTION?
KYBELLA® is an injectable drug used in the treatment of moderate to severe submental fat behind the chin, colloquially known as "double chin." A synthetic version of deoxycholic acid is used to make Kybella, which has been FDA-approved since 2015. When deoxycholic acid is injected into the submental region, it disrupts the cell membrane of the localized fat cells, allowing them to be easily removed through your natural metabolic process.
WHAT KYBELLA CAN DO FOR MY DOUBLE CHIN?
The active ingredient in KYBELLA® is synthetic deoxycholic acid, as previously stated. It is a naturally produced chemical in the body that facilitates dietary fat digestion and absorption. Deoxycholic acid, when injected into your double chin, starts to break down fat cells until your chin can no longer store or accumulate fat. The final outcome is a dramatic reduction in the bulk of your chin, exposing a more sculpted facial profile.
HOW IS AFTERCARE?
There is relatively little downtime after Kybella procedures, and the majority of patients manage the injections extremely well. There is always a risk of swelling and soreness at the injection site with injections, which can be exacerbated depending on the amount of subcutaneous fat treated. However, the swelling should go away in 7 to 10 days. Other side effects, however uncommon, can include bruising and brief numbness.
HOW EFFECTIVE IS KYBELLA FOR DOUBLE CHIN REDUCTION?
According to recent studies, the treatment produced great levels of patient satisfaction. Nearly 80% of patients said they were happy with their face and chin's appearance following Kybella procedures. When asked how happy they felt after getting their double chin treated, patients also reported a significant improvement in the emotional and visual impact.
DOES KYBELLA COME WITH ANY RISKS OR SIDE EFFECTS?
Pain, swelling, bruising, redness, and numbness at the injection site are common side effects. The recovery period following Kybella is typically short because it is a non-surgical procedure. Minor side effects usually disappear after two weeks. Although extremely rare, more severe side effects like facial muscle weakness, an uneven smile, difficulty swallowing, or jaw nerve damage have been noted.
HOW MUCH DO KYBELLA INJECTIONS COST?
The full cost of Kybella is based on how many sessions you'll require to get the results you want. The cost of your therapy will also be determined by the quality and expertise of the healthcare practitioner who is administering it. Selecting a clinic with qualified practitioners, who will take the time to learn about your treatment objectives and provide a plan of care that is appropriate for you, will affect your results greatly. Currently, costs for double chin injections with Kybella at StudioMD Midtown are $595 per vial (limited-time offer) instead of the $795 per vial regular price.
