WHAT IS NON SURGICAL CHIN ENHANCEMENT?
The Chin Enhancement procedure has the goal of changing the contour of your chin making it more prominent and more defined. It involves the use of dermal filler injections and/or muscle relaxant injections to create the desired augmentation. With age, our chin tends to pull up, giving us an orange dimpling effect. A Chin Enhancement is the non-surgical alternative to restore the chin to its original position, creating a more attractive jawline, and a more youthful appearance.
AM I A GOOD CANDIDATE FOR A CHIN AUGMENTATION WITH A FILLER?
The treatment is recommended to anyone who wishes to improve the size and shape of their chin, with minimal pain and without surgery. The ideal candidates for this procedure include people that have a small or “weak” chin, congenital chin deformities or an injured chin condition.
WHAT HAPPENS DURING THE PROCEDURE?
A non-surgical chin reshape is usually performed under local anaesthesia. Most patients are even allowed to participate in the pattern of correction by watching the process in a mirror. Keep in mind that some cases require the procedure to be reassessed in the following month in order to achieve the full effect result desired by the patient.
WHAT ARE THE SIDE EFFECTS OF NON-SURGICAL CHIN AUGMENTATION?
As it goes with most dermal filler procedures, the side effects of a chin augmentation can include redness, swelling, pain and discomfort in the site of treatment. But all these symptoms are expected to be resolved within a week.
IS THE PROCEDURE PAINFUL?
A chin augmentation with dermal fillers is not a very painful procedure. Most patients don’t even require anesthetics like numbing cream or gas. Since the dermal filler product already has a local anaesthetic in it, the procedure ends up being relatively pain free. Unfortunately, when the numbness has worn off several hours later, the chin area can be a bit painful and tender. This is normal and expected. The discomfort will ease off over the next few days.
