WHY HAVE A SCULPTRA FACELIFT?

Sculptra Facelift is one of the more powerful facial procedures, which can help restore significant volume to thinning areas of the face, providing a fuller and more youthful facial appearance. As we age, the amount of collagen and elastin decreases in our skin. Sculptra acts as a “stimulatory” filler, allowing our body to stimulate and regenerate its own elastin. With each injection of Sculptra, new collagen is produced, the skin is tighter and firmer, and volume is restored. To suitable candidates who want to avoid cosmetic surgery, the surgeon may recommend Sculptra injectable treatment.

WHERE IN THE FACE IS SCULPTRA AESTHETIC USED?

Sculptra Aesthetic is used to correct shallow to deep facial wrinkles and folds which are treated with the appropriate injection technique. Sculptra Aesthetic is suitable for:

Deep folds between the nose and the mouth (nasolabial folds) also called smile lines
The lines framing your mouth (marionette lines)
Chin wrinkles

HOW IS THE PROCEDURE PERFORMED?

Before the procedure, pictures from all angles will be taken during the consultation in order to enable us to track your progress and compare the results obtained many months after the treatment. On the day of the injections, a topical local lidocaine cream is used to numb the treatment site. Typically, the numbing cream is used 30 minutes before the injections, to ensure that it settles properly and that the entire process is as comfortable as it can be. Additionally, Sculptra is dissolved ahead of time and combined with lidocaine, making it even less painful. Once the injections take place, the procedure takes between 15 and 30 minutes, depending on the number of vials required. After that there is no required downtime and many patients resume their everyday lives immediately after the injections.

AM I A GOOD CANDIDATE FOR SCULPTRA INJECTIONS?

Ideal candidates for Sculptra facelift are men and women who wish to correct facial or body volume loss, and are in good physical and emotional health. Overall, you should be 18 years or older and have a healthy immune system. But you should not have Sculptra injections if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Patients with a history of keloid formation or hypertrophic scarring shouldn’t undergo Sculptra injections. Patients with a history of autoimmune disease, such as Lupus, are also not suitable candidates for the treatment.

CAN I COMBINE BOTOX AND SCULPTRA TREATMENTS?

You can and it is also very common to combine other cosmetic dermal fillers - such as Juvederm - with Sculptra injections. Unlike dermal fillers, Botox is a neuromodulator and works by relaxing the muscles of facial expression, mostly in the forehead and around the eyes. Sculptra is not typically used in these areas. It is a deep injection that aims to contour the jaw area, jowls, cheeks, and other areas of volume loss and wrinkles.

HOW IS THE AFTERCARE?

There is no downtime with Sculptra treatments. Some patients even resume their everyday lives immediately after the injections. So you can expect to go back to work and resume normal activities the following day. For better results and to prevent bruising, it is recommended that you avoid strenuous exercise and alcohol for the first 24 hours. During the first week after your Sculptra facelift, we recommend that you gently massage your face five times a day for five minutes at a time. In case of swelling or redness, you may apply ice masks to help minimize these side effects.
