FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
WHAT IS A PDO THREAD LIFT?
A PDO Thread Lift is one of today's most popular cosmetic treatments, renowned throughout Korea and America. It involves the placement of threads made of Polydioxanone (PDO) under the skin, which are then tightened to lift sagging facial tissues. PDO threads can stimulate the skin to produce more COLLAGEN, which promotes skin elasticity and helps the skin appear more youthful and healthy. PDO threads stimulate ELASTIN and HYALURONIC ACID synthesis in the skin, both of which are essential for giving your skin a more youthful and rejuvenated appearance.
HOW LONG WILL MY RESULTS LAST FOR?
The degree of skin laxity, the number of threads used, the thickness of the skin, and the amount of firming that takes place after the lift are just a few of the variables that will affect the results. With that results differ significantly from person to person.
For mono threads, we usually recommend at least two sessions three months apart. Cog threads may be sufficient after a single session, but additional monos can be added after 3 months.
IS THERE ANY DOWNTIME ASSOCIATED WITH PDO THREADS?
For three days following the procedure, avoid heavy sports, using the sauna or exposing the treated area to a lot of sunlight or sunbed. After treatment, there might be some bruising, swelling, and small lumps. You can also expect to feel some stiffness of the wires and barbs can make creaking noises when yawning and eating. But this usually clears up in about two weeks. During your preliminary consultation, we will go over every aspect of your aftercare and let you know exactly what to expect with the PDO threads recovery process.
DOES IT HURT TO GET A THREAD LIFTING?
With PDO thread procedures pain is minimal and it can become virtually pain free if a topical anesthetic cream is applied 1 hour before the procedure. But it is important to keep in mind tha bruising and swelling are very common side effects. In most cases swelling lasts only for 48 hours, but brusiging can take up to two weeks to completely fade away. After 2 days, most patients are usually able to apply camouflage make-up to hide any sign of pale bruising. But we recommend you to avoid social situations in the first week when possible.
ARE THREADS AN ALTERNATIVE TO INJECTABLES?
No, because these treatments target different parts of the anatomy. They complement each other well, but one does not replace the other. You are not required to continue with any or all of them, but it is likely that you will want to. PDO threads can enhance the results of injectables, as well as a good skin care and sun protection regimen. And the outcomes of this combination are incredible when the dose and placement are correct.
