FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
WHY HAVE A HAIR TATTOO?
Scalp Micropigmentation (Hair Tattoo) is a non-surgical and non-invasive procedure that can help you regain confidence by giving you a full head of hair that looks natural. The treatment involves applying specific pigments to your scalp to mimic the appearance of hair follicles, reconstructing a hairline that blends with your existing hair and skin tone. SMP has shown to be the perfect answer for restoring receding hairlines, covering thinning or bald patches, camouflaging scars, and simply adding density to worn out hairlines for many men and women experiencing hair loss.
WHAT TO EXPECT WITH SCALP MICROPIGMENTATION?
SWith Scalp Micropigmentation, most patients require from 2 to 4 sessions, spaced (at least) 10 days apart to allow for the pigment to settle and your scalp to fully heal. Depending on the extent of the procedure each session lasts from 1 up to 3 hours. You can expect to experience some redness in the treatment site after each session, but other than that, you are free to go back to your normal activities. Aftercare recommendations will be provided individually, but rest assured, your SMP results will look very presentable after each session.
CAN SMP CREATE A NATURAL HAIRLINE?
Yes! In fact, SMP only creates natural-looking hairlines! Your artist will do a thorough consultation before starting your treatment to uncover what is essential to you and what you intend to achieve with Scalp Micropigmentation. A classic, natural-looking hairline is always preferable to a 'fashionable' style. But you and your artist will work together to design and come up with a hairline that suits your unique features and treatment goals.
WILL THE PIGMENT FADE WITH TIME?
After the treatment, there will be some fading and loss of color as the body metabolizes the pigment. This is perfectly natural and one of the reasons we recommend multiple sessions. As with any tattoo, long-term fading is caused primarily by sun exposure. Your immune system, which is attempting to break down the pigment, is another component. Fading can be minimized with careful skincare and sun protection. Avoid using products with high levels of alcohol, such as Rogaine, or those containing Retin-A or Alpha Hydroxy Acid, since they may erase the Scalp Micropigmentation color.
CAN I GET A HAIR TRANSPLANT AFTER SMP?
Hair transplantation and scalp micropigmentation are complementary procedures. In fact, many men and women suffering from hair loss are now considering scalp pigmentation in conjunction with a hair transplant to get a fuller look.
