FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
WHAT IS A PDO THREAD LIFT?
A PDO thread lift is a nonsurgical procedure that uses facial threads to improve aging concerns such as volume loss, sagging skin, Crow's feet around the eyes, smile lines, and droopy jowls. But what exactly are facial threads and how do they work in a PDO thread lift? To perform a PDO threading procedure, dissolvable PDO (polydioxanone) threads are carefully placed into the target areas of skin. The threads lift and tighten the face, giving it a smoother appearance. PDO threading also stimulates collagen and elastin production, which helps you look even better and younger over time.
ARE YOU A CANDIDATE FOR THE TREATMENT?
Are wrinkles and loose skin giving you an aged appearance? Are you hesitant to undergo invasive surgery despite the fact that you could benefit from the lifting and firming provided by a facelift? If you answered yes to any of these questions you may benefit from a PDO Thread Lift. This treatment can achieve some of the same results of a facelift with just one non-surgical appointment. PDO threads can also be used to tighten crepey skin on the neck and decolletage, lift sagging jowls, soften smile lines and forehead furrows, and soften smile lines and forehead furrows.
WILL THE THREADS BE VISIBLE?
Your threads will be hidden. You might be able to feel them if you press on them in lax areas of the face, depending on how thin your skin is, but they won't be visible at all: not even in shadow form. The threads will dissolve naturally within six months, allowing the skin to continue producing collagen and naturally rebuilding itself.
HOW DO I PREPARE FOR THE TREATMENT?
One of the most appealing aspects of a PDO thread lift is that it is minimally invasive, requiring little to no preparation. However, there are a few things patients should avoid in the days leading up to the procedure, including certain vitamins and supplements such as ginkgo, omega fish oil, and vitamin E. It is also recommended that patients avoid high-intensity exercises, saunas and steam rooms two days before treatment. Avoiding these things is merely a precautionary measure to ensure the best possible thread lift results.
ARE THERE ANY SIDE EFFECTS ASSOCIATED WITH PDO THREADS?
Thread lifts are minimally invasive treatments that have been approved by the FDA for safety and efficacy. Complications or side effects from PDO thread lifts are rare, and even when they do occur, they can usually be easily corrected. Despite being rare, potential complications may include visible sutures (particularly in people with thin skin), pain, infection and inflammation. It is also important to note that risks associated with thread lifts are significantly lower than the risks associated with facelift surgeries.
