FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

HOW DOES VI PEEL (CHEMICAL PEEL) WORK?
Chemical peel uses a chemical solution to improve and smooth the texture of the facial skin by removing its damaged outer layers. It is helpful for those individuals with facial blemishes, wrinkles and uneven skin pigmentation. VÍ Peel is the first Next Generation Aesthetic. It is painless, yet produces dramatic visible results in just days with little downtime.

The VÍ Peel contains a blend of gentle, yet powerful ingredients suitable for all skin types. Afro-American and darker skin types such as some Asian and Latin skins can also experience anti-aging and restorative skin care previously unavailable

The skin peeling associated with the VÍ Peel is a light, fluffy peel that will start on day three and generally be finished by the end of day four. Recommendation for average skin would be once every three months to prevent damage and the underlying ageing of the skin. For damaged skin every 2 weeks would be fine. Skin should be evaluated to than get and maintain proper results.

*Results can vary based on individual conditions

AM I A GOOD CANDIDATE FOR A CHEMICAL PEEL?
Chemical peels work best on those clients with mild to moderate skin damage from sun exposure, aging, lifestyle choices such as smoking, and/or acne. If you would like a brighter, smoother and fresher complexion, without surgery and little or no downtime, then you are an excellent candidate for a chemical peel.*
HOW DOES A CHEMICAL PEEL WORK?
A chemical peel involves the use of a chemical solution to improve and smooth the texture of the facial skin by removing its damaged outer layers. Chemical peels increase cellular turnover which in turn refines the epidermis and treats environmentally damaged, acne prone, sensitive, dry and oily conditions.
IS A CHEMICAL PEEL PAINFUL?
Most clients report a mild stinging or slight burning sensation that lasts for a very short amount of time, however, it really depends on the type of chemical used during the process. Alpha hydroxy and beta hydroxy acids are quite gentle and are used for mild skin damage, fine lines and discolorations. Thanks to cutting edge technology such as Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) and laser procedures that offer excellent results with little or no downtime, fewer and fewer clients are opting for seriously deep chemical peels.
HOW MANY TREATMENTS DO I NEED?
During your initial consultation, we will discuss your cosmetic goals. To this end, a skin care regimen will be designed to help you improve and maintain healthier looking skin at home. Typically, a series of five or six chemical peels spaced three to four weeks apart is adequate to achieve most cosmetic goals.*
WHAT OTHER TYPES OF PEELS ARE AVAILABLE AT STUDIOMD?
AHAs
Alpha-hydroxy Acids: such as glycolic, lactic, or fruit acids are the mildest of the peel formulas and produce light peels.
-Smoothes rough, dry skin
-Improves texture of sun-damaged skin
-Aids in control of acne
-Can be mixed with bleaching agent to correct pigment problems
-Can be used as TCA pre-treatment
AHA Post Treatment:
After an AHA peel, it is common to experience some temporary flaking or scaling, redness and dryness of the skin. However, these conditions will disappear as the skin adjusts to treatment.*
TCAs
Tri-chloroacetic Acid: can be used in many concentrations, but it is most commonly used for medium-depth peeling. -Fine surface wrinkles
-Superficial blemishes
-Pigment problems; such as brown spots are commonly treated.
Post Treatment:
With a TCA peel, the moderate discomfort and mild swelling you may experience will subside within the first week. In about a week to ten days, your new skin will be apparent and you should be healed sufficiently to return to your normal activities. It is best to avoid sun exposure unless you are adequately protected.*
*Results can vary based on individual conditions.
