Stretch marks or striae are a common problem that affecting many men, women and teenagers. They frequently appear as unattractive red, purple or white streaks across the hips, stomach, breasts, buttocks, flanks, thighs, arms, or shoulders. They may occur with pregnancy, rapid growth spurts, weight lifting, rapid weight gain or loss, and medical steroid use. Stretch marks happen when the tissue under the skin is pulled by rapid growth or stretching. Although the skin is usually fairly elastic, when it's overstretched, the normal production of collagen is disrupted. As a result, scars in the dermis called stretch marks may form.*

HOW DOES CARBOXY THERAPY WHITE PLAINS WORK FOR STRETCHMARK REMOVAL?

Stretchmarks (striae distensae) occur when the skin is stretched to the point where the dermal collagen ruptures. Carboxytherapy causes the formation of new collagen and subsequently thickens the skin to improve the appearance of the stretch marks by rebuilding the collagen matrix. *

HOW IS CARBOXYTHERAPY WHITE PLAINS PERFORMED?

It is a non surgical method. Carbon dioxide (CO2) is infiltrated into the subcutaneous tissue through a tiny 30G needle (0.3mm in diameter). From the injection point, the carbon dioxide diffuses easily into adjacent tissues.

HOW DOES THE CARBON DIOXIDE WORK?

Carboxytherapy works in two complimentary ways. Firstly, and quite simply carbon dioxide mechanically kills fat cells. Secondly, it also has a strong vasodilatory effect (causes dilation of blood vessels) on the capillaries in the area. Wider vessels mean bigger and stronger blood flow to the area, which means more oxygen. The increase in oxygen is important because it eliminates the built up fluid from between the cells. The end result is fewer fat cells and firmer subcutaneous tissue.

IS CARBOXY FOR STRETCH MARKS PAINFUL?

No. Some patients can experience a light tingling sensation near the injection site. It disappears within a matter of seconds. As a result of the increased circulation, the area surrounding the injection site may feel warmer for 10 to 20 minutes.

WHAT SHOULD I AVOID AFTER CARBOXY TREATMENT?

There are no restrictions on any activities after the treatment. You can go right back to what you were doing as soon as you step out of StudioMD White Plains Medical Center.

ISN'T CARBON DIOXIDE TOXIC?

No. Carbon dioxide is naturally produced by the cells in our bodies every day of our life. It is a by product of metabolism. It is transported in the blood and exhaled through the lungs.

HOW MANY TREATMENTS WILL I NEED FOR LASER STRETCH MARK REMOVAL WHITE PLAINS AND TO GET RID OF STRETCH MARKS?

This depends upon the severity of the problem being treated. Usually, six to twelve treatments spaced one week apart yields an excellent result.
