FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
WHY DOES HYPERHIDROSIS OCCUR IN THE FIRST PLACE?
Excessive sweating is divided into two categories: primary and secondary hyperhidrosis. Primary hyperhidrosis typically manifests in childhood and has a hereditary component. It is the most common category, but the main cause of this condition is still unknown. Secondary hyperhidrosis occurs when sweating affects the entire body and is most likely caused by an underlying medical condition. Obesity, hyperthyroidism, and even menopause are all possible causes. As a result, it is critical to identify the source of your sweating before seeking treatment.
WHAT TAKES PLACE DURING THE PROCEDURE?
Your Botox treatment for hyperhidrosis will begin with the application of an iodine solution and starch powder to your armpits to identify the primary areas of excessive sweating. Following that, a series of small injections will be made into the skin around these areas. The needles are very fine, and the amount injected is very small each time. The procedure typically only lasts less than 30 minutes, and most patients find it to be quite tolerable.
IS GETTING BOTOX IN THE ARMPITS SAFE?
Botox has long been FDA-approved for people who sweat excessively from their armpits. It can also be used "off-label" to reduce sweating in other parts of the body, such as the hands, feet, and face. Off-label use refers to using a medication for a purpose other than the one for which it was approved. This means that Botox hasn't been subjected to the same level of rigorous testing to confirm its effectiveness in these areas of the body.
HOW MUCH DOES BOTOX FOR HYPERHIDROSIS COST?
The cost of Botox injections can vary greatly depending on how many areas you want treated and where you live. At StudioMD Medical Aesthetics & Wellness Centers, we provide consultation services to address your specific circumstances and develop a treatment plan that meets both your goals and your budget. Additionally, we are currently offering both underarms for a special price of $995 (100 units)!
HOW LONG WILL THE RESULTS LAST?
Botox, unfortunately, is not a long-term solution for excessive underarm sweating. Because a single treatment lasts approximately 4-12 months, you will most likely require continued injections. Nevertheless, Botox does help most hyperhidrosis patients stop or significantly reduce their symptoms. According to studies, most patients report an 82-87% reduction in sweating.
