WHAT IS THE PROCESS OF FRAXEL SKIN RESURFACING?
Fraxel is a laser treatment that uses light to stimulate collagen and elastin production, restoring your skin and giving you a more youthful appearance. It uses an ablative laser light that can penetrate deep into your skin's dermal layer, reaching thousands of microscopic treatment zones (MTZs). The ablative light promotes the delivery of more collagen to your face, resulting in improved skin texture with a more even tone and smoother feel. Surprisingly, there are very few risks associated with Fraxel treatments, and there is no pain or extended recovery time.
CAN FRAXEL HEAL ACNE SCARS?
To begin with, it is critical to understand that each type of acne scar has a specific solution that is best suited to that type of scar. Fraxel Skin Resurfacing is an excellent treatment option for rolling, atrophic, and mixed acne scars. Depressed scars and tethered-anchored scars, on the other hand, will respond better to subincision treatments. Deep ice pick scars will respond better to chemical peels. HOW MANY FRAXEL TREATMENTS WILL I NEED?
With Fraxel, there is no one-size-fits-all solution. Your treatment's total number of sessions will be determined by your body's healing process, pigmentation, and overall skin health. Most people require more than one Fraxel Skin Resurfacing session. Overall, each session of solar keratosis and skin rejuvenation treatments typically replaces about 15-20% of the sun-damaged, scarred, or wrinkled skin. And the time between treatments varies depending on how you react to the treatment, but it is usually between 3 and 8 weeks.
DOES IT HURT TO GET FRAXEL SKIN RESURFACING?
When compared to other laser treatments, Fraxel is one of the least painful options. If you are concerned about this topic, rest assured that it can be performed under partial sedation. When used prior to Fraxel laser treatment, a topical anesthetic significantly reduces any discomfort you may feel during the procedure. Treatments involving sedation typically last one hour: 30 minutes for the topical anesthetic to take effect, followed by 20-30 minutes for the treatment itself.
CAN FRAXEL BE USED ON DARKER SKIN TONES?
Unlike other laser skin treatments, Fraxel Laser can be used on people of all skin tones. Mostly because fractionated lasers, such as Fraxel Skin Resurfacing, cause inflammation in small spots throughout the skin rather than evenly covering the entire surface area. As a result, there is very little risk of skin darkening. However, keep in mind that patients with darker skin will most likely require more treatment sessions than those with fair skin.
