HOW DO LIP FILLERS OR ENHANCEMENT WORK?
Lip Enhancement, also known as lip filler or lip injection is a non-surgical cosmetic procedure which uses synthetic or biological products to safely enhance or augment the lips. The doctor may use a variety of products to achieve lip enhancement including Juvéderm, Restylane and other fillers. Dr. Khan prefers to use Juvéderm for lip injection because it will last longer than other similar fillers and will give a natural, predictable result. Lip augmentation is widely sought out by models, actors, and of course women of all occupations for beautiful yet natural lip enhancement. The procedure generally takes about 30 minutes after the lips are gently numbed using lidocaine. As the lips may appear a bit swollen for 3-5 days, it is best to plan ahead before a special date or event.

IS ANESTHESIA USED DURING LIP AUGMENTATION COSMETIC PROCEDURE?
Yes, your lips will be numbed so that you feel no or minimal discomfort. Usually, a topical anesthetic is used, as well as lidocaine, to numb the lips.
WHAT ARE FILLERS USED FOR DURING LIP ENHANCEMENT?
Lip fillers such as Juvederm, Radiesse, Restylane are FDA approved injetions that are injected into the lip area to provide the desired shape, fullness or thickness. Lip augmentation using fillers is an elective procedure and is used to add volume, thickness or fullness to the lips. Lip fillers have become a quick, safe, and affordable alternative to surgical options. Lip fillers last a few to several months and therefore are automatically reversed by the metabolism, and the procedure needs to be repeated every several months.
WHAT DOES LIP AUGMENTATION FEEL LIKE?
The lip filler such as Juvederm or Radiesse or Voluma is injected into the lip and can be uncomfortale or painful if there is no anesthesia applied. So local numbing and pain medications are often used with the lip injections.
HOW LONG DOES THE LIP INJECTION PROCEDURE LAST?
The lip injection procedure can last from five to thirty minutes, depending on the number of areas being treated.
HOW WILL MY LIPS FEEL AFTER LIP AUGMENTATION?
After the lip augmentation procedure, you may experience some pain and swelling. This usually lasts a few days and in rare cases, the swelling and redness can persist for up to two weeks.
WHEN WILL I SEE RESULTS FROM MY LIP INJECTION?
Your lips will be fuller after the lip injection procedure because of the swelling and the filler. You will see the results of the lip filler injection alone in a few days after the swelling has subsided.
HOW LONG BEFORE I CAN RETURN TO MY NORMAL ACTIVITIES?
After the lip injection procedure, it may take a few days for the swelling to completely subside. For any activities involving the lip area, it is recommended to wait a few more days.
HOW LONG DO THE LIP FILLER RESULTS LAST?
The temporary fillers in the lip last 3-6 months.
