DOES THE LOCATION OF THE TATTOO IMPACTS THE REMOVAL?
The location of the tattoo on your body, and the amount of ink it contains, does have an impact in the laser removal treatment. In most cases, the further away from your heart and the more dense the ink, the longer it will take to remove the tattoo. As a referente, a tattoo on the ankle can take significantly more sessions to be removed than the same size and color tattoo on the shoulder. Because the blood circulation is much better closer to the heart than in your ankle. And the less circulation present to carry away the ink, the longer it will take to remove the tattoo.
IS LASER TATTOO REMOVAL PAINFUL?
Unfortunately, laser tattoo removal does involve some level of pain. But most patients report that it hurts way less than they expected. The pain is often described as the sensation of a rubber band snapping against the skin or bacon grease. So expect it to be uncomfortable but bearable.
DOES LASER REMOVAL LEAVE SCARS?
StudioMD’s Picosecond and Q-switched Nd:YAG lasers work with pulses so fast that they’re able to dissolve the ink without destroying the surrounding tissue in the process. Think of it as moving your hand over a candle so quickly that there is not enough time to burn the skin. You can expect redness, swelling, blistering, and even scabbing to show over the tattoo following removal laser treatments. But our laser technology combined with proper aftercare ensures that there will be no scarring.
HOW MANY SESSIONS WILL I NEED? HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?
The number of treatment sessions needed is based on several factors, including the ink color, depth of ink, scar tissue around the tattoo and the placement on the body. Most patients typically required between 8 to 12 sessions to remove a tattoo. But we have seen satisfactory results in as little as 4 sessions. There is no way of knowing how many sessions it will take for your specific tattoo before checking how it will respond to the laser treatment.
