Dr. Rosanna C. Perretta is a Board-certified family medicine physician with extensive experience in medical aesthetics, which she has been practicing since 2014. She graduated cum laude from Yale University and completed her medical degree at Stony Brook University. She offers services such as Botox and dermal fillers and is also available for general skincare consultations. Dr. Perretta prides in her ability to provide beautiful, yet natural looking results to all her patients.

HOW DOES SCULPTRA FACELIFT WORKS?

Sculptra is a new injectable that targets wrinkles and sagging skin by stimulating the skin's collagen production to restore the beautiful plumpness of healthy skin. It is an alternative anti-aging treatment for injectable dermal fillers, skin creams, fat injections and implants. Collagen is an important structural protein found in connective tissue. Its function is to keep the skin firm, youthful and smooth. As you age, your body's collagen production decreases, and you may start to see wrinkles or sagging. Lipolysis under the skin can also lead to sagging skin, sunken cheeks, dimples, and sunken faces.

HOW MANY SESSIONS WILL I NEED?

For most patients we recommend a minimum of 3 treatment sessions over a period of several months. Every patient is different and so are their goals and needs. So the exact number of injection sessions and the length of time between sessions will vary accordingly. Overall, more mature patients, those who exercise vigorously may require more product or more treatment sessions.

ARE SCULPTRA INJECTIONS PAINFUL?

At StudioMD Larchmont we offer topical numbing agents to numb the skin prior to the injections. The Sculptra constituent also carries lidocaine, so you can expect to feel more numb as the injections are being done. Many patients are surprised at how comfortable the treatments can be. Additionally, take comfort in knowing that Sculptra is made out of poly-L-lactic acid, a biodegradable molecule that does not harm the body and can be easily broken down and absorbed by the body.

ARE THERE ANY SIDE EFFECTS TO SCULPTRA INJECTIONS?

The most common side effects include swelling, tenderness, redness, pain, bruising, bleeding, itching and lumps around the injection site. Other side effects may include small lumps under the skin, usually only noticeable when pressing on the treated area. Although more rare, larger lump with delayed onset with or without inflammation or skin discoloration, have also been reported.
