FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
WHAT IS THE P-SHOT?
The P-Shot, also known as Priapus Shot®) is a new, pioneering treatment designed to help the sexual performance of men, especially those who have lost function due to an enlarged prostate, prostate cancer, the after-effects of surgery, drug side effects and other conditions such as diabetes. The procedure is done under local anesthetic, so little to no pain is experienced. The P-Shot is also effective in treating Peyronie’s Disease, a condition in which painful erections, bending of the penis and difficulties with sexual intercourse can be experienced.
ARE THERE ANY POSSIBLE SIDE EFFECTS?
The P-shot procedure is usually well tolerated by most patients. But some of the common side effects (if any) include pain or tenderness, bruising, and possibly swelling and lumps at the injection site. Take comfort in knowing that these side effects are temporary and will likely resolve themselves with no intervention.
IS IT PAINFUL?
You can expect to experience minimal to no pain during the P-shot procedure. Numbing cream will be applied approximately half an hour prior to the procedure. The P-shot needle is smaller than any other cosmetic procedure. Also, to further minimize discomfort, a vibrating instrument may be applied to the area being treated which limits the transmission of pain impulses to the pain fibers. Taking a couple paracetamol tablets one hour prior to the procedure can also help with any discomfort. But you avoid ibuprofen as this can increase bruising.
ARE THESE INJECTIONS SAFE?
Yes, this is a natural skin and tissue rejuvenation therapy that uses your own concentrated blood platelets and proteins. It can activate stem cells and release growth factors, which triggers tissue repair. The shots have been used for decades in wound healing, mainly to treat sports injuries. More recently it also became a popular treatment approach in aesthetic medicine and genital rejuvenation (like the P-shot). Since the substance is naturally found in your body it poses no risk of allergic reaction, sensitivity or other complications under sterile medical conditions.
HOW IS THE RECOVERY?
Most patients return to their daily routine immediately after the procedure, and can even resume sexual intercourse on the very same day. Sometimes the results are immediate, but they also may take up to 3-4 weeks to show full effect.
