WHAT IS LASER HAIR REMOVAL?

Laser Hair Removal is a safe, FDA approved and effective treatment to remove unwanted hair. Its technology works by focusing intense beams of light into targeted hair follicles. In the process, the light is converted to heat and then absorbed by the cells in the follicles, successfully breaking them down while leaving the surrounding tissue unaffected. And although laser hair removal has a reputation of being a painful treatment, all StudioMD equipaments feature skin-cooling devices for greater patient comfort and faster results.

CAN LASER HAIR REMOVAL TREAT INGROWN HAIRS?

Laser hair removal is the only truly effective treatment to remove ingrown hairs. Because it goes straight to the source of the problem: the root or hair follicle. Once the follicle can no longer produce hair, the ingrown hair affected area will begin to heal, leaving your skin smooth and undamaged. Also, since most people that experience ingrown hairs also suffer from scarring, the sooner you treat the area, the less chance you have of developing any level of scarring.

WHICH SKIN TONES CAN GET LASER HAIR REMOVAL?

At StudioMD we are able to offer laser treatments to all skin tones thanks to our wide range of lasers available, including FDA approved Candela's GentleLASE® and GentleYAG, Cynosure Elite, and Cutera's Xeo technology. While the GentleLase Pro is suitable for fair to medium skin tones, the GentleYAG is suitable for medium to darker skin tones. Both devices also provide optimal solutions for laser vein treatment (spider veins), laser genesis, sun-spots, freckles, age spots, Intense Pulse Light (IPL) applications and ingrown hairs.

WHEN WILL I SEE THE RESULTS?

You’ll likely see the benefits of laser hair removal soon after the first session. Results may vary from patient to patient, but most people show a 10% to 25% reduction in hair within the first treatment cycle. Overall, most patients usually need from 2 to 6 laser treatment sessions to remove all hair on the treated skin for several months or even years. When and if the hair eventually regrows in some spots, it tends to be finer and lighter in color.

HOW OFTEN DO I NEED TO GET LASER HAIR REMOVAL?

Your treatment timeline will depend on the type of hair, skin, and body area being treated. But most patients usually require sessions at 4-6 weeks intervals. Since each part of the face and body has a different growing cycle, hair reduction will vary depending on what stage your follicles are in at the time of the treatment.
