WHAT IS KYBELLA?

KYBELLA® is an injectable medication designed to improve the appearance of moderate to severe submental fat below the chin, also known as “double chin.” Kybella injections have been FDA approved since 2015 and are composed with a synthetic form of deoxycholic acid. When injected into the submental region, the deoxycholic acid disrupts the cell membrane of the localized fat cells, facilitating them to be easily removed through your natural metabolic process.

AM I A GOOD CANDIDATE FOR KYBELLA INJECTIONS?

Overall, adults over the age of 21 who are medically healthy and who are not allergic to the active ingredients in the formula are suitable candidates for the treatment. But the best candidates for this treatment only have an excess of fat under the chin and have ruled out alternative treatments like liposuction as an option. You should also be aware of the time commitment required for this procedure, as the best results may require six treatments over six months to achieve.

WHAT’S THE TREATMENT LIKE?

Before the injections take place, one of your health professionals will apply a numbing agent to the area of treatment to make the whole experience more pleasant. After that, between 20 to 50 injections, with a very thin needle, will be manipulated within your double-chin region. The number of injections and amount of Kybella will depend upon the size of the submental fullness being treated. The entire process only takes around 20 minutes, which means you get it done over your lunch break and head right back to the office straight after. Following the treatment you can experience some swelling in the injection sites, but this side effect is considered normal and should diminish within a few hours.
