WHAT IS CARBOXYTHERAPY?
In essence, Carboxytherapy is the administration of carbon dioxide gas for therapeutic purposes. Carbon dioxide is naturally present in our bodies and by injecting a small amount of it into a treatment area, we are “tricking” the body into increasing the oxygen flow and promoting tissue healing around it. This regenerative capacity allows Carboxytherapy to treat several skin conditions, such as dark under-eye circles, stretch-marks, cellulite, and fat sculpting on the face and the body.
WHAT AREAS AND PROBLEMS ARE TREATED WITH CARBOXYTHERAPY?
More commonly, Carboxytherapy can improve the appearance of Dark Circles and Eye Bags. Hooded eyes can also be slightly lifted by tightening the forehead area with strategically placed Carboxy injections. The treatment also works for Crows Feet Wrinkles and sleep lines around the eye area. Finally, it can open up brow expression and promote a brow lift, due to new collagen remodeling and contraction of the skin on the brow down the line.
HOW MANY TREATMENTS ARE NECESSARY?
Some patients can notice improvement right after the first treatment, but it usually takes up to one month for the body to properly show the actual tissue regeneration process. More pronounced and long-lasting results are more commonly reported after 4 to 12 treatments. Typically on the face 4 to 6 treatments of Carboxytherapy sessions are required. Eyelid tightening takes from 4 to 6 treatments, while stretch marks can take around 10 treatments. Cellulite takes up to 12 treatments and skin tightening in the body can take anywhere between 4 to 12 treatments, depending on the area and severity of the condition. Keep in mind that a touch up session every 6 to 8 months is required to maintain results.
HOW MUCH DOES CARBOXYTHERAPY COST?
Costs can vary significantly, depending on individual treatment plan requirements. Most patients usually require 7 to 10 sessions of carboxytherapy, spaced out 1 week apart, before they begin to see results. Overall, each session costs around 350 per treated area.
IS CARBOXYTHERAPY SAFE?
Carboxytherapy has been used safely and effectively on more than 30.000 patients with no complications against conditions such as cellulite, psoriasis, diabetic ulcers, venous insufficiency and stretch marks. For most patients carbon dioxide is a natural by-product of the body and is not toxic even in elevated doses. In addition, any discomfort is also minimised because the gas is heated during the procedure and all unwanted air is drained, following safety precautions.
DOES CARBOXYTHERAPY HELP CELLULITE?

Carboxytherapy works in two ways. Firstly, and quite simply carbon dioxide mechanically eliminates fat cells. Secondly, it also causes dilation of blood vessels, allowing stronger blood flow to the area, which means more oxygen. The increase in oxygen eliminates the built up fluid from between the cells, promoting fewer fat cells and firmer subcutaneous tissue.
