WHAT ARE NECK BANDS?

The tightening of the platysma muscles, which run from the jawline to the collarbone area, causes neck bands (also known as platysma bands). These muscles are activated when the corners of the mouth are turned down and outward in a surprised or frightened expression. Some studies have even shown that prolonged cell phone use can add stress on the platysma, resulting in unattractive lines. Previously, the only method to get rid of neck bands was to have surgery, which required a lengthy recovery and the risk of complications. However, Botox has recently become the safest, most economical, and popular approach to treat this area. And the best thing is this: There is no downtime and the injections are relatively painless. This means you may come in during your lunch break, get a treatment, and go about your day— though it's usually best to avoid laying down or working out for at least four hours after receiving any injectables.

HOW DO I PREPARE FOR THE PLATYSMAL BAND INJECTIONS?

The treatment process will begin with a consultation appointment at StudioMD. During the consultation, we will be able to assess the treatment area and evaluate which treatment strategies are best suited to your unique needs and aesthetic goals. If Botox is one of the procedures on your list, you'll only need to do a little planning ahead of time. We ask that you arrive with a clean, product-free skin on your neck the day of the procedure and that you refrain from using anti-inflammatory drugs like Advil. These products can make you more prone to bruising or bleeding after treatment.

WHAT TO EXPECT FROM THE TREATMENT?

Multiple botox injections are given along each platysmal band in the neck throughout the procedure. The procedure is quick and relatively painless, ideal for those who want a neck lift without the downtime. Because you will be treated with genuine Botox (or Bocouture), you can expect the best and longest-lasting results. There are no numbing creams or anesthetics required. In most cases, we like to see our patients for a three-week review, following each appointment.

IS THERE ANY AFTERCARE?

Botox treatment is a safe and effective treatment that does not require any downtime. While there is no downtime after the treatment, there are some activities that should be avoided immediately afterward. It is advisable that you do not lie down on the treatment region for several hours after, and that you massage the treatment area for at least two days. This is to prevent the injection from spreading to other parts of your body, which might be hazardous. Additionally, you should avoid strenuous physical activity for 24 hours following your Botox injections.

HOW LONG WILL MY RESULTS LAST?

The removal of fine lines, wrinkles, and jowls with Botox is particularly efficient in rejuvenating the appearance of the neck. Within 10 days of receiving the treatment, the results are usually visible. Botox's effects can last anywhere from 3 to 4 months after that. Though the effects are only temporary, Botox treatment can be repeated once the effects have worn off. CAN PLATYSMAL BAND BOTOX ELIMINATE MY TURKEY NECK?

The term "turkey neck" refers to the loose, drooping skin that can develop along the neck as a result of the normal aging process. A Botox neck lift can help tighten the skin and reduce the look of turkey neck, but if there is too much skin laxity in the treatment area, patients will need to combine Botox with a skin tightening laser, such as Thermage. As for patients who have a lot of loose skin, a surgical neck lift or face lift may be required to address the lax skin completely.

ARE PLATYSMAL BAND INJECTIONS PAINFUL?

Having botox injected in the neck region doesn’t typically require the use of numbing creams or anesthetics. Mostly because we work with extremely fine needles and the whole procedure is really quick. If necessary, we might use an ice roller and a vibrating gadget to assist you relax by distracting your nerves.

WHAT CAN I EXPECT FROM SCULPTRA OR RADIESSE FOR HORIZONTAL NECK WRINKLES?
