If you find yourself considering braving the needles to banish fine lines and wrinkles for good, odds are that you probably came across the mention of Sculptra Aesthetic. In face of so many treatments and popups offering the next best thing in cosmetic-land, it’s easy to get lost in many search tabs. But don’t fret just yet! We’ll cut right to the chase: What is Sculptra? And, most importantly, is it the right treatment for you?
Sculptra is a dermal filler injection that acts below the surface of the skin in the area of fat loss. It treats wrinkles and folds that take undesired shapes in our faces. These include deep folds between the nose and mouth (nasolabial folds), the lines extending from your mouth to your chin (marionette lines), smile lines, and chin wrinkles. You know, that awful “crepey” appearance that makes you resemble the wicked witch of the west.
For your reassurance, Sculptra injectable is a non-allergenic, synthetic, and biocompatible material. It’s FDA-approved since 2004, and it is completely safe and effective in small doses. The injection treatment itself has to be tailored to each patient’s needs. Your doctor will evaluate your face and skin, and draw out a plan for the injection’s location and dosage. This can all be done in under 45 min per session.
Ok, but are you a good candidate for Sculptra?
If you look in the mirror and long for a fuller youthful look, especially around the cheeks and above the lips, you may be a good candidate. If you desire to fill in lines and wrinkles in a more natural, long-lasting way, you may be a good candidate. Also, if you have experienced dramatic weight loss and your facial skin has been showing it badly, that makes you an excellent candidate. But, if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or younger than 18? Sculptra is not for you.
It sounds all incredible, but How long does it last?
The injection component, which is made from poly-L-lactic acid, actually activates your own body to rebuild and replace the collagen that is lost as we age. It gets your skin working for that glow. So it takes about 21 days to see the full results after each treatment. The treatment is not an instant fix, more of a longer-lasting way to improve your appearance. But results can last for up to three years!
Ok, just one last thing… Are Sculptra injections painful?
Well, as with all injectable treatments you can feel a little discomfort during Sculptra treatment. But unlike surgical procedures, dermal fillers require no cuts, incisions, or stitches. Most people can return to their normal activities immediately after Sculptra injections.
There’s no doubt that Sculptra Aesthetic is a great non-surgical approach to reduce the signs of aging. But like an art form, it is only as good as the skill-level and experience of the person injecting you. Studio MD professionals are top-trained and well versed with Sculptra injections. We understand the process and have a fine reputation achieving a natural look that makes you look as young as you feel.
